This Issue presents eight scholarly articles addressing contemporary issues in the built environment, architectural design, urban studies, and sustainable development. The first article, titled "Analysis of Cultural Order Patterns in Jongko Houses in the Gempol Market Area," explores these patterns. The influence of pedestrian pavement materials on urban microclimates along Jalan Tunjungan in Surabaya, and the interaction between urban microclimate and building envelopes, as observed through infrared thermography in a tropical campus tower, are the second and third articles in this issue. Further discussions examine smart material criteria in sustainable architecture through a systematic literature review, the adaptation of elderly housing within the Universal Design framework, and the evaluation of intensive care unit zoning and circulation through Evidence-Based Design at dr. Gondo Suwarno Ungaran Hospital is the subject of the fourth and fifth articles. The issue also investigates the readiness of the Glodok area along the Jakarta MRT Phase 2 corridor based on the ITDP TOD Standard 3.0, strategies for improving natural lighting efficiency in classrooms through façade and opening design, and the production of micro-social spaces in residential alleys through the application of Henri Lefebvre’s theory in Ampenan Old Town as the sixth, seventh, and eighth articles. Collectively, these studies demonstrate the interdisciplinary nature of built environment research, integrating cultural interpretation, environmental performance, material innovation, inclusive design, healthcare planning, transit-oriented development, and socio-spatial analysis. This issue contributes to advancing evidence-based architectural and urban design practices while highlighting the importance of context-sensitive, sustainable, and inclusive approaches to the development of Indonesia’s built environment.
